AEB HOLDS ITS 2026 GENERAL ASSEMBLY
6 December 2026 — Bujumbura,The Association of Evangelicals in Burundi (AEB) held its 2026 General Assembly in Kings’ Conference hotel, gathering leaders, pastors, and representatives from member churches across the country for a day dedicated to reflection, gratitude, and charting the way forward. This year’s Assembly was honoured by the presence of Rev. Dr. Master Oboletswe Matlhaope, Secretary General of the Evangelical Alliance of Africa, whose participation showcwased the deepening partnership between the evangelical family in Burundi and the wider continental movement.
The General Assembly opened in a spirit of worship as the Secretary General of AEB led participants in giving thanks to God for the remarkable progress achieved over the past year. He drew attention to testimonies of pastors who have been strengthened through AEB initiatives, church leaders who have been equipped for ministry, and underprivileged families whose lives have been touched through various programmes of compassion, advocacy, and development.
Reflecting on these achievements, he reminded the Assembly that every step forward is a demonstration of God’s grace and the dedication of churches working together in unity of purpose.
A key moment of the day was the introduction of the 2026 Action Plan, outlining AEB’s strategic priorities for the coming year. The plan places strong emphasis on strengthening pastoral capacity, expanding evangelistic and discipleship efforts, advancing social transformation, empowering youth, and reinforcing the voice of the evangelical community in national affairs. The leadership highlighted the need for collective commitment to ensure that AEB continues to serve the nation with integrity and impact.
In his address, the Secretary General of the Evangelical Alliance of Africa commended AEB for its courage and commitment to the advancement of the mission. He encouraged churches in the country to foster unity. His message brought a renewed sense of encouragement and connection with the broader African mission.

Participants engaged in discussions on governance, ministry priorities, and upcoming projects, reaffirming their shared mission to strengthen the church’s witness and bring hope to communities across Burundi.
As the Assembly concluded, leaders expressed commitment to walk together in unity, to steward resources faithfully, and to advance the vision God has entrusted to the Evangelical Alliance in Burundi. A closing prayer was offered for the nation, the churches, and the work ahead in 2026.
