A HISTORIC GLOBAL GATHERING: STRNGTHENING UNITY AND MISSION AMONG EVANGELICAL ALLIANCES
This year marks one of the most significant moments in the history of the global evangelical movement. The recent Assembly of the World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) has been recognized asthe widest and most diverse gathering since the Alliance was founded 179 years ago.
With the addition of 27 new National Evangelical Alliances since the last Assembly in Indonesia in 2019, the WEA now represents 161 national alliances and nine regional bodies. This remarkable growth reflects an expanding and vibrant global community, united by a shared commitment to advancing the Gospel across cultures and nations.
Dr. Brad Smith, Interim Director of the Alliance Engagement Department, observed:
“Each National Evangelical Alliance represents thousands of local churches and millions of believers actively advancing the Gospel in their contexts. These gatherings provide a critical space for exchanging knowledge, building partnerships, and inspiring leaders to continue contributing to God’s Kingdom.”
For alliances like AEB, participation in the Assembly provides:
-
A forum to learn from global ministry experiences
-
Opportunities to develop strategic collaborations
-
Access to tools and insights that enhance national impact
-
Inspiration for unity and holistic mission
The Assembly is a recurring platform that ensures the global evangelical community remains connected, informed, and empowered to pursue God’s purposes collectively. For AEB and other national alliances, it is a vital moment to strengthen ties, exchange ideas, and equip leaders to make lasting contributions to their communities and nations.
